290Walk

This is a great part of the country if you like wild garlic! The aroma is something else.

Nettleton, near Castle Combe. Golf course to left. Gorge asked why I had not brought his golf clubs. Rain & very wet feet.

Just had cup of tea at Littleton Drew. Only 99 miles to go.

Wed 18th. Tunnel House Inn to Sheraton 15.8 miles. This photo is by a delightful lake at Cherington. Saw 3 gorgeous foals & a herd of heffers which licked our hands. Another day with no pub open 4 lunch! Managed to avoid nettle rash when answering the call of nature!

Tue 17 May. 17.1 miles today, 174.9 in total. This is a topiary house in Sapperton, Gloucester. We are both doing fine, not too many blisters.

Traitors Ford. Sunday morning.

On course to finish walk on Wed 25th as planned. Bad day Sat. Broke hiking pole & pub had no food. Good meal last night though & accommodation Ok. Jimmy & Elaine expected me to limbo dance under this tree!

Having passed 2 pubs which didnot suit George, we arrived here at The Rose & Crown. Ratley 4 lunch!

Friday 13th so hope theres no Gremlins around! Another sunny day in paradise.

I cannot believe it, over 10 miles and no pub then 2 within 3 miles! 17.6 miles today, 98.8 in total. Doing fine but tired.

Wed 11th. Signpost, pointing to 6 directions, in middle of nowhere. Taken my belt in 3 notches, buying smaller 1 tomorrow.

Stamford Meadows. Half way through day 3. No blisters as yet!

Greatford, Stamford (where we stopped for a full English at 10am), Easton on the Hill, Collyweston, Ketton, Empingham, Rutland Water!! 18 miles, sunny, 6 spots of rain. 1023 calories! No pubs open Ketton!

In a field of rape seed near Greatham,Lincolnshire. Set off from Pinchbeck at 9.15. Got caught in a hail stone storm at 11.30. Got soaked! Lunch at garden centre (Kates Bridge). Walked 16 miles to Greatford. Staying with friends in Stamord. Ended up with very wet feet, tomorrow is supposed to be dryer. Doing well so far! Greatford to Rutland Water tomorrow.
